W6N’s week 2 analysis
Two rounds in, this years women’s six nations has been full of excitement and record breakers.
With current standings England stands top of the table just in front of France, the two are tied on points but the red roses just edge in front due to points difference.
Ireland bounced back from their defeat to England in round one with a 57-20 win over Italy. Ireland scored 9 tries in Galway with hometown hero Beibhinn Parsons getting a hatrick and being crowned player of the match.
France continued their strong campaign with an overwhelming 38-7 win over Wales. Despite having 2 players in the sin bin France stepped up a gear in the second half, holding back a very resilient and promising Welsh side.
England roared into another successful result in Murrayfield with a 84-7 win over Scotland, but this game marked the biggest women’s event in Scottish history with 30.498 fans attending the game. I was at the game and although the outcome was far from ideal as a Scotland fan, the atmosphere was incredible and ill be writing a separate post on my matchday experience.
After highlighting her as one of my star players in the world cup campaign, it was an extra treat to watch Sadia Kabeya get over the line, and watching the ever incredible Ellie Killdune in action.
Round 3 sees England face Wales at home to another potential record breaking crowd for the red roses. Scotland travel to Parma to face Italy and France look to continue their impressive run, with a match at home to Ireland.
